The end of the year is approaching fast and I have to say it has been a very good year for PC games. We have had plenty of good stuff to sink our hungry teeth into but as always, the question is what did you like best?
I am going to open the discussion with a list of categories and I will comment my personal choices. Everybody is welcome to contribute their comments and their own favourites. At the end, I will make another post with some kind of consolidated results. So here are the categories:
1.- Best single player:
2.- Best MMO/Free to play:
3.- Best Indie game:
4.- Best Coop Game:
5.- Biggest surprise:
6.- Biggest disappointment:
7.- Best Game of the Year:
So what are your choices? Do not hesitate to vote, the more votes we have, the better.
Ok, here are my favourites!
1.- Best single player: Metro 2033
2.- Best MMO/Free to play: APB Reloaded
3.- Best Indie Game: Space Chem
4.- Best Coop Game: Dungeon Defenders
5.- Biggest surprise: Magika
6.- Biggest disappointment: Battlefield 3
7.- Best Game of the Year: Portal 2
Honourable mentions to Shogun 2, BIT.TRIP Runner, Frozen Synapse, Sanctum, Super Laser Racer and World of Tanks
Is this best game ever or does it have to have been released in 2011?
I think the best game ever deserves a different post. I’d say this is about games you played this year, they do not have to be 2011 games.
OK mine then:
1.- Best single player: Orcs Must Die!
2.- Best MMO/Free to play: World of Tanks
3.- Best Indie Game: Sanctum
4.- Best Coop Game: Dungeon Defenders
5.- Biggest surprise: Saints Row 3
6.- Biggest disappointment: Battlefield 3
7.- Best Game of the Year: Portal 2
That was surprisingly easy… Looking through the releases for 2011 makes depressing reading… hopefully 2012 will be a better year.

Is tribes out yet? And btw, Whoop, I am not even going to comment on number 7.
Ah, good point.
It’s in ‘beta’ but they’re giving away keys like nothing.
and there is nothing wrong with my number 7 choice, you haven’t even played it :<
To be fair to whoop if it wasnt for all the politics then we would probably all be siding with him.
Most of the group have not been able to assess the game itself simply due to EAs restrictive decisions.
“Fair to Whoop”? And who wants “to be fair to Whoop”?
It was a joke, of course you can vote whatever Origin tells you to, it is your, I mean their right.
